I'm still knocking out the bumps and so on...but I decided to write Caiden's backstory a little differently, and comments would be great!
In lifetime past, a time before
Lived a man who studied lore
A peaceful life he lived alone,
Near the mountains on the shore
The land was ruled by steel and stone
Sword and shield, and javalin thrown
But his time would come, soon and more,
His life would change forevermore
A lust for knowledge, full of study
This man traveled a road, long and muddy
In search of artifacts, he made his way
Through a land unknown, with no light of day
He found an object, in his book
That had more power with every look
His thirst for knowledge never gone
He began a quest, his plans drawn
To find this trinket, at the brink of dawn
Through the mountains, he walked long and hard
The snow was painful, the ice was hard
But in his mind, he thought of the glory
This item would bring, however gory
At last, after months of hiking
The amulet was close, to his liking
The legends and myth, the air and ground
Nothing of this trinket, had ever been found
Yet here he was, on the brink of discovery
About to make a new recovery
Upon grabbing, the device let out a sound
Which began to shake the very ground
The very mountain began to roar
The ice crumbled beneath the floor
Through all of this, came a crushing wave
An avalanche racing, towards his soon to be grave
He tried to run, but to no avail
He was torn down by debris and hail
And there he died, amulet in hand
Soon to be forgotten, throughout the land.
Hundreds of years would pass
Before a cult would find this icy mass
They worshipped a god, dark and strong
Who's amulet he had left along
So they searched the land to find this shrine
Until they reached the worlds own spine
In the rubble, they began to mine
And found a skeleton, the amulet shined
Deluded and crazed,
This perceived god they raised
With darkness and magic
The end result was quite tragic
The once scholar now a beast
Went into a rage, their bodies did he feast
With no mind to call his own
The creature fell upon the stone
And there he lay, to grow anew
A body, and mind renew
The amulet now become one
With the man, who's suffering was now done.
Or so he thought, and yet he wandered
Through a chilled land, and still he pondered
Why was he brought back against his will
Was this new world so ill?
Locked away his body and hand
And began to learn of this new land
Where he exists now, without a friend
Until the time comes, for him to end.
