Previously, I have been running CO on my Mac using Boot Camp, which as most of you probably know partitions your drive into two pieces, an OS X half and a Windows half. You buy Windows, install it on the partitioned drive, and presto, you now have two computers, a Mac and a PC, which you can alternate between every time you reboot.
However, this is now no longer necessary for an increasing number of games. Games like Dragon Age, Warhammer Online, and others have had "wrappers" made for them by fans or third parties. These wrappers install on your Mac and run the Windows version of the game. This is not an emulator or parallels or anything like that.
I am very happy to say that CO has now joined the ranks of games which can be run, easily and smoothly, on your Mac with no fuss nor muss. This is because a fan has spent months making a "wrapper" for Star Trek Online and, because CO and STO use the same launcher and engine, it works for both games.
Here is the thread you need. This has the download link, directions, and the few known issues with the wrapper. Anti-aliasing does not work, fonts do not look pretty at low resolutions, and there has been some trouble with a dual monitor set-up.
The instructions here are for STO. To download and play CO on your Mac, run the STO .exe file inside the wrapper, login, select "Options" from the bar along the top, and in Options click on "Show all games." This will put the drop-down menu on your launcher that allows you to pick between STO and CO. (This has always been a feature of the launcher, but as I'm sure many of you noticed, it was hidden by default near the end of STO's beta.) Once your launcher is pointed at CO, just click "Engage." (Your launcher will still look like the STO launcher, so we're in Picard-land.) CO will begin downloading to your Mac and should run smoothly at default settings.
