Having met the souls of 13 dead heroes in the tombs of Takofanes, I am tinkering with the idea of a 13-person SG which would be made up of "legacy heroes" who are trying to live up to the names and reputations of the 13 fallen.

The idea would be to be as open as possible when it came to concepts. If you wanted to say you were visited by the soul of Vanguard and infused with some of his power, and that's why you're the new Vanguard, then you could do that. But if you want to say that your new version of Eclipse has nothing in common but the name, you could do that too. By allowing everyone to be as creative as possible, I think we'd get a more dynamic team and more plot hooks.

All the heroes would start out at level 1 when the Blood Moon event ends. All new heroes. Every hero would have the same name as one of the dead 13; I checked, and the names can be used in the game. They're allowed. Costumes should be close enough to the original hero that we recognize the theme, but that leaves plenty of flexibility. Additional connections would be up to the player. But obviously the new heroes are going to have all the problems of traditional "Legacy" heroes like Wally West, Jack Knight, and Kyle Rayner: Are you good enough to fill those shoes.

There are 13 heroes, and the lore screens on each of them, along with pics of their zombie and "spiritual" versions, can be found on the Champions Online wiki.

Constructive comments or questions welcome.

For information on which slots are OPEN and which are PLAYED, please see our thread in the Supergroup Recruitment and Information Forum. Thanks!

Vanguard, former leader of the Justice Squadron and most powerful hero of Earth; former Indiana-Jones style anthropologist who found a golden statue which gave him powers. In game framework: Archery. (I know! Huh?)
Vigil, flight and laser-like beams of energy, mutant and all-American type. In game framework: Sorcery. (I don't explain it, I just type it.)
Tiger, UNTIL agent transformed after being injected with a prototype Moreau manimal serum. Former leader of the Sentinels. Claws.
Shadowboxer, darkness powers and well known hero of Detroit. Survived by his brother, who was the brains of the team. Got his powers from radioactive waste. Darkness.
Radion, servant of Destroyer, given radiation powers by Gigaton. In game framework: Electricity.
Nimbus, woman with control over air and cold. In game framework: Ice.
Johnny Hercules, circus strongman who gained "the Hercules Force" and was tasked with 12 labors by his father Zeus. Failed in the last one one, which was defeating Destroyer. Might.
Goblin, alien spirit dwelling in the body of the man who discovered him. In game framework: Supernatural.
Flechette, mobster who got a heart transplant from a superhero. Munitions.
Firefight, Detroit firefighter who gained powers from a chemical fire. Fire.
Eclipse, mysterious heroine who claimed to be a living sunspot. In game framework: Darkness.
Crusher, VIPER super-soldier with increased mass and density who gained telekinesis. In game power set: Force.
Amazing Grace, had a divine vision but actually got her powers from radioactive bread and a malfunctioning toaster. In game framework: Telekinesis.

Edit: I got tired of updating our membership information in two places. I have left the info on the original 13 here, but removed the info on who is played and who is not, instead directing everyone to our post on the Supergroup Recruitment thread.

This sounds like a cool idea.. worth trying out at least. I may look into filling one of these spots.

Well heck. Vanguard is a lovely man. The Old Defender as the game describes him. I'd be interested in anything involving this. Would drag my RP characters to three, but I could do it!

I do have a question. What about the eventual hero who cannot duplicate a fallen's powers but wants to carry on their name?

The second Captain America used guns, did he not?

I think the only requirement is that you have the same name, and a costume that is recognizeable. Nothing says your powers have to be identical.

Though they should have some common theme. The second Cap used guns, but he was still a strong, fast, martial artist in chainmail with a shield.

This sounds fairly interesting, and I might be up for it, most likely as Eclipse.

Eclipse definitely looks like a cool one.

This is a very interesting idea. I doubt I would be able to divert my attention/time sufficiently to participate, but it sure sounds fun.

I have updated the original post with the in-game powers of each of the Undead Heroes. Devs have made some odd choices, probably in an effort to get more variety among the bad guys. Vanguard is mysteriously wielding a bow. Vigil has sorcery. I leave it to whoever wants to play those characters to decide how to reconcile in-game lore with in-game powers.

My quick survey of the characters instantly suggested Eclipse would be the popular choice. She has darkness powers, a mysterious background, a good name, and a nice costume. Not to mention a mischievous personality.

If anyone is definitely interested and definitely wants to play a legacy hero of the Blood Moon, send me a PM or speak up. I see a lot of "might be interested," but I don't want to reserve anyone unless the player is sure they have time.

Well, I have been looking for an excuse to make a new alt, I enjoy themed sets of characters, and I think I have enough free time to make it work. My biggest concern and challenge is writing up an origin for a legacy character for such a mysterious heroine.

What type of 'powerful' is Vanguard? I'd assume Might, since that seems to be the typical 'leader and main hero' set of powers. Was thinking of a few ways to mend the lore to the character. Oh, and does Darkness fit Eclipse? Sounds like it would, but making sure tongue

Obviously, a majority of them could be the same or similar as the ones you posted, but hey, brainstorming!

Radion - Electricity could be a....vague lore-fit at best. The only powerset that we have right now that would really resemble comic-style radiation would be greenish tinted fire, though I haven't tested greenish celestial yet.

Amazing Grace - Obviously celestial would be a fit, at least name/background-wise. Telekinesis/pathy are also very fitting.

Vigil - Power Armor is the obvious choice, for at least the laser powers. Force could work, and electricity could vaguely work (It's not electricity, it's mini-lasers!)

Oh, and I would so want to be a part of this. Amazing Grace would be my first choice if I could use Celestial, since I want a celestial character but don't feel like making a new, generic hero with no RP reasoning. Besides her, Goblin and Crusher also seem fun tongue

Also, I love that you intend to allow creativity in fitting the role, so we aren't just a 'skip in time' SG smile

I honestly don't know. I presume you are right.

In game, she attacks with Darkness, yes.

Green electricity does OK. Gigaton's radiation powers in the Desert Crisis are also electricity in their appearance, so we'd at least be in lore for CO, if not for other comics. In any case, sure, fire would work too and the DoT effect is a nice way to replicate radiation sickness.

Oh, and I would so want to be a part of this. Amazing Grace would be my first choice if I could use Celestial, since I want a celestial character but don't feel like making a new, generic hero with no RP reasoning. Besides her, Goblin and Crusher also seem fun tongue

I'll tentatively pencil you in for Grace. You can use any powers you want.

That's the fun part; you can write whatever you want and no one can tell you that you're wrong. Personally, I think the 'sentient sunspot' idea is just wacky enough I might have used it myself. But you can do whatever you want.

I'll tentatively pencil you in for Eclipse.

Awesome. Right now, I'm on a quest to find Amazing Grace up in the open missions, so I can grab a few pics. Want me to go ahead and grab any other pictures of the 13 I can?

Sure. The wiki I linked to has pictures of both zombie and spirit version for almost all. I know Grace is there, if you want to check her out.

But be nice, she's a nice girl.

Oh, well, that is helpful. I'll just fill in any blanks I can find then tongue

EDIT - Well crap. All but Vanguard and Vigil are there, and they are much higher quality than I'll be able to give, so I am useless xD
