Marvel and DC both have their own threads, and I think this is far overdue. It saddens me that I need to lump all the other excellent comics makers into one big heap like this, but c'est la vie.

My No 1#? Abe Sapien. Both the Comic and the movie versions are epic in their own way.

Card. I love him.

I know it's not a paper comic, but the whole thing is just gorgeous.

Morpheus/Sandman. Hell, all the Eternals together. Even that gigantic prick Desire.

John Constantine. Forget the movie, the comic book character is one of the most magnificent bastards around. Rivals even Oliver Cromwell.

In my mind, web comics are fine for here as long as they're styled like print comics. None of this CAD or Penny Arcade! tongue

Technically Vertigo, which aren't part of the DC universe. tongue

Trust me, people get pissy when you get Vertigo in their DC conversations.

I think they mean not by Marvel or DC or have any affiliation with either as a company.

Seperate imprint, seperate editorial staff, completely different publishing philosophies. It's as disingenious to say vertigo characters are DC characters as it is to say mirimax movies are disney movies.

Still, it has the DC brand logo. It's more of a brand designation then anything else. Bottom line is DC still has their hands on it.

Oh well, could be worse, could be like Disney owning Mar- oh wait.

Okay, you can keep your Vertigo, but the Eternals are even on Marvel's Earth-616! D:

Sara Pezzini of WitchBlade.
Yeah for awhile the comic was little more than cheesecake, but the modern stories are actually some of the best I've read in comics, and the same goes for the artwork.
I'd kill to see more DC writers, artists and editors put this level of character motivation, depth, and personality into their stories.

Witchblade! Witchblade!
Did I mention Witchblade?
Those guy had to leave Marvel to create her. >.>
Yay TopCow! (It's an awesome name too. I mean, come on... Top Cow!)

I'm hoping this will be good. I admit the director of Queen of the Damned scares me a lot, though... The book wasn't all that great, espeically comapred to others in the serie but the movie just plain sucked.

That's true, but discussing the characters DC is it's own universe and imprint, so discussing Vertigo characters in that thead gets problematic. I just feel the properly belong in a seperate conversation is all. /shrug.

Wrong eternals. tongue I'm referring to Gaiman's eternals, which are the sandman/death, etc crew.

And to fit in one officially "other", I'll say Hellboy. Good movies, better comic book. Then again, I'll like anything Ron Perlman is attached to.

Ron Perlman is awesome as long as he has makeup on.

I also have to go with Jackie Estacado. He's a bastard, and his darklings are funny as hell. And he is too. And he appreciates the ladies. What's not to like?

And I like one of his nemesis, Sonatine. I mean come on, he takes pleasure in using creative mind tricks on people and leaves them weeping on the ground. "Your mother was a prostitute, your father was her pimp, start believing....now." Priceless.

Yep, The Darkness, from Witchblade to Jackie Estacado - I love it all.

I think he's the only cursed underworld demon-possessed man to breed with the Angels.

Yeah, that's right, he screwed an Angel.

My entire comic collection is pretty much comprised of Top Cow titles: I have the first 20 Witchblades, the first 10 Fathoms, the Darkness trade paperback, and a handful of special editions, cross-overs, super Turner signed Fathom editions, so on. (My favorite Crossover is Darkness and Batman. "Nana nana nana nana na, Batman! What kind of theme song is that?!")

This was the bonus (and drawback) to working at that comic store. wink

So I'm right there with you on the Turner love. And, admittedly, I have a thing for T&A comics with strong, black-haired male characters. Oh, Cannon Hawke, how I love thee...

But, oh, another favorite character of mine is Kildare, from Aria.
